Chana rises on tight supply

Low supplies also pushed prices higher

Press Trust of India New Delhi

Chana futures prices today rose by Rs 32 to Rs 4,119 per quintal as speculators created fresh positions, tracking a firm spot market trend.

At the National Commodity Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in June rose by Rs 32, or 0.78%, to Rs 4,119 per quintal, with an open interest of 19,130 lots.

The July contract gained Rs 10, or 0.24%, to Rs 4,193 per quintal in 1,04,500 lots.

Analysts said speculators created fresh positions on the back of pick-up in demand at the spot market, amid low supplies which pushed up chana prices at futures trade.
