Gold futures fall from record on global cues

Press Trust of India New Delhi

Gold prices fell from record by losing Rs 49 to Rs 19,164 per ten gram in futures trade today, as speculators reduced their holdings in tandem with a weakening global trend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange platform, gold for December fell by Rs 49, or 0.26 per cent, to Rs 19,164 per ten gram in just one lot.

Similarly, the metal for delivery October delivery declined by Rs 48, or 0.25 per cent, to Rs 19,031 per ten gram in three lots.

Marketmen said fresh offloading by speculators on the back of a weakening global trend mainly led to a fall in gold prices at futures trade.

Meanwhile, gold fell by $3.20 to $1,291.40 an ounce in Asian region.
