Gur strengthens on paucity of stocks

Gur prices strengthened further by up to Rs 200 per quintal in the wholesale gur (jaggery) market today on paucity of stocks amid increased demand.  

Traders said paucity of stocks following negligible arrivals from the producing regions along with rising demand led to the rise in gur prices.

At Delhi, gur dhaya and shakkar rose by Rs 100 each to Rs 3,000-3,100 and Rs 3,100-3,200 per quintal, respectively.

In Muzzfarnagar, gur chakku rose to Rs 2,450-2,650 from Rs 2,450-2,625 per quintal. At Muradnagar, gur dhaya spurted by Rs 200 to Rs 2,750-2,850 per quintal.

Following were today's quotations per quintal:  

 

Chakku Rs 2,700-2,800, pedi Rs 2,900-3,000, Dhayya Rs 3,000-3,100, and Shakkar Rs 3,100-3,200
Muzaffarnagar: Raskat Rs 2,300-2,375, chakku Rs 2,450-2,650 and Khurpa Rs 2,450-2,500
Muradnagar: Pedi Rs 2,600-2,675 and Dhaya Rs 2,750-2,850
