Lead futures gain 0.54%

Press Trust of India New Delhi

Lead futures gained 0.54 per cent to Rs 103.35 per kg today as speculators enlarged positions, driven by a firming trend in global markets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead futures for November delivery rose by 55 paise, or 0.54 per cent, to Rs 103.35 per kg, with a turnover of 13 lots.

Lead futures for October contract delivery also gained 50 paise, or 0.49 per cent, to Rs 102.45 per kg, with a turnover of 714 lots.

Analysts said a firming trend in base metals in global markets amid dollar weakness boosted the appeal of the commodity. A pick-up in domestic spot demand also influenced lead prices at the futures market here.

Meanwhile, the London Metal Exchange Index of six industrial metals today rose by 1.1 per cent to its highest level since April.
