Lead futures shed 0.52% as profit booking emerges

Press Trust of India New Delhi

Lead futures prices today fell by 0.52 per cent, to Rs 115.90 per kg today, as speculators indulged in booking profits, ignoring gains in overseas markets.

Subdued demand from battery-makers at the spot market, put pressure on the lead futures prices here.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, lead for January delivery fell by 60 paise, or 0.52 per cent, to Rs 115.90 per kg, with a business turnover of 15 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in February, shed 55 paise, or 0.47 per cent, to Rs 116.80 per kg, with a business volume of one lot.

Market analysts said profit booking at prevailing levels, put pressure on the lead futures prices but firmness in base metals at the London Metal Exchange, restricted losses.

Meanwhile, lead climbed 0.8 per cent to $2,570 a tonne.
