Lead moves up on spot demand

Lead prices traded higher by 0.43% to Rs 106.15 per kg in futures trading today on pick up in demand from battery-makers in the spot market amid firming global trend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, December lead edged up by 45 paise, or 0.43% to Rs 106.15 per kg in business turnover of 4,032 lots.

The January delivery contract traded higher by 40 paise, or 0.37% to Rs 107.10 per kg in 336 lots.

Market analysts said pick up in demand from battery-makers in the spot market and reports of a rising trend in overseas market pushed up lead futures prices.

Meanwhile, lead rose 2% to 2,015 dollar a metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
