Lead rises 1.34% in futures trade on global cues

Lead futures prices today traded Rs 1.35, or 1.34 per cent, to Rs 102.90 per kg, as speculators built up positions, driven by firming trend in overseas markets on strong Chinese industrial output.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange platform, the October contract of lead traded Rs 1.35, or 1.34 per cent higher, to Rs 102.10 per kg, with a business turnover of 339 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in current-month September contract edged up by Rs 1.30, or 1.13 per cent, to Rs 101.15 per kg, with a turnover of 386 lots.
Analysts said firming trend in base metals at the London Metal Exchange after China's industrial output grew at a faster rate-than-expected, boosting optimism that demand would expand in the world's largest metals user, influenced lead futures here.
