Mustardseed futures fell on weak demand

Mustardseed futures prices fell by Rs 1.60, or 0.30 per cent, to Rs 538.10 per 20 kg today on the back of slack demand in spot markets.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange counter, mustardseed price for the most-active October delivery faded by Rs 1.60, or 0.30 per cent, to Rs 538.10 per 20 kg, with an open interest of 1,25,870 lots.

Current-month September contract also shed by Rs 1.35, or 0.26 per cent, to Rs 527.40 per 20 kg, with an open interest of 38,560 lots.

Marketmen said favourable rainfall in growing states such as Rajasthan, Gujrat and Haryana, indicated a better crop this season.
