Sensex lacklustre, FMCG scrips move up

A sluggish trend is prevailing in the market with the Sensex now down five points at 7,792. While tech stocks continue to display weak trends, selective buying is seen in auto and other heavyweights.

Satyam has declined 2.45% (Rs 13) to Rs 527, and Infosys is unchanged with a per cent loss (Rs 22) at Rs 2,290. While TCS has lost 1.28% (Rs 17) to Rs 1,278, Wipro is down a per cent (Rs 6) at Rs 725.

Reliance Energy has gained 2.10% (Rs 13) to Rs 652. ITC is up with a steady gain of Rs 6 at Rs 1,742, and Reliance is up a rupee at Rs 730, after early weakness. ONGC is lacklustre at Rs 952.

HDFC Bank (down Rs 5 to Rs 679) is trading on a subdued note since early deals. While ICICI Bank is marginally down at Rs 512, SBI is trading in the green at Rs 810.

Bajaj (down Rs 46 or 2.98% to Rs 1,487) is still reeling under selling pressure. Hero Honda has shed 2.47% (Rs 16) to Rs 615. Maruti, however, has added 2% (Rs 10) to Rs 511.

Tata Power has shot up 4.55% (Rs 19) to Rs 427, while Bharti has notched up 4.10% gains (Rs 12) to Rs 296. L&T has pared some losses to Rs 1,345 - down Rs 20 or 1.45%.

FMCG stocks have attracted buying support. Tata Coffee has shot up 10.30% (Rs 33) to Rs 356, and Mirza Tanner has advanced 7% (Rs 13) to Rs 201. Goodrick, REI Agro, Jayshree Tea and Nirma are up in a range of 2-4%.
