Sensex range-bound; M&M sheds 4%

The Sensex is still trapped in a narrow range of 109 points, and is now down 26 points at 9,298. The index after opening 58 points higher at 9,382, soon slipped into red and touched a low of 9,273, this morning.

Sterlite has soared 3.8% to Rs 270, and Jaiprakash Associates has surged 2.6% to Rs 68.

Reliance Communications and ONGC have rallied nearly 2% each to Rs 186 and Rs 660, respectively.

Bharti Airtel, Hindalcoand Tata Steel have advanced 1.6% each to Rs 643, Rs 51 and Rs 207, respectively.

Larsen & Toubro, Reliance, Sun Pharma and ITC are up 1% each.

 

Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) has plunged 3.8% to Rs 312. ICICI Bank and Tata Power have shed 2.5% each at Rs 413 and Rs 754, respectively.

DLF, TCS and HDFC have dropped around 2% each to Rs 191, Rs 493 and Rs 1,535, respectively.

Tata Power and Wipro have slipped nearly 2% each to Rs 151 and Rs 234, respectively.

Grasim, SBI and Infosys are down around 1.5% each at Rs 1,258, Rs 1,147 and Rs 1,250, respectively.

The market breadth is fairly positive - out of 2,197 stocks traded so far, 1,200 have advanced, 903 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
