Sensex slips 277pts; ICICI, NTPC weak

The Sensex has slipped back to lower levels and is now down 277 points at 19,004.

HDFC Bank has plunged 3.5% to Rs 1,575. ICICI Bank and NTPC have shed 2.5% each at Rs 1,138 and Rs 254, respectively.

BHEL, Larsen & Toubro and ONGC have dropped 2.3% each to Rs 2,593, Rs 4,238 and Rs 1,194, respectively.

Satyam and Wipro have slipped over 2% each to Rs 410 and Rs 440, respectively.

Hindalco and SBI have shed 1.7% each to Rs 191 and Rs 2,241, respectively.

Reliance Energy and Tata Motors have declined 1.4% each to Rs 1,769 and Rs 698, respectively.

Reliance, Hindustan Unilever, HDFC and Grasim are the other major losers.
