Sensex up 273pts; Guj Amb surges 4%

The Sensex is now up 273 points at 14,283.

Gujarat Ambuja has surged 3.7% to Rs 136. Tata Motors has rallied 3.5% to Rs 880.

Larsen & Toubro and BHEL have advanced over 3% each to Rs 1,667 and Rs 2,400, respectively.

HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and Maruti have gained around 3% each at Rs 1,046, Rs 941 and Rs 881, respectively.

Cipla, Bharti Airtel and Reliance Communications are up around 2.5% each at Rs 250, Rs 780 and Rs 463, respectively.

Hero Honda, HLL, SBI, TCS, Reliance and Satyam have moved up around 2% each.

Out of 2,356 stocks traded so far, 1,977 have advanced, 353 have declined and 26 are unchanged.
