Sensex up 35pts; Rel Energy zooms 8%

The Sensex is now up 35 points at 17,595.

Reliance Energy has zoomed 7.7% to Rs 1,435.

Ambuja Cements and ACC have soared over 3.5% each to Rs 145 and Rs 1,026, respectively.

ICICI Bank and Hindalco have rallied over 3% each to Rs 1,056 and Rs 180, respectively.

ONGC has surged over 2% to Rs 1,133, and HDFC Bank has gained 1.8% at Rs 1,382.

SBI, ITC and Larsen & Toubro have advanced over 1% each to Rs 1,689, Rs 177 and Rs 3,057, respectively.

Bharti Airtel has plunged 3.4% to Rs 935.

TCS has dropped 2.7% to Rs 1,077. Satyam and Wipro have slipped around 2% each to Rs 450 and Rs 491, respectively.

Tata Steel and HDFC have shed 1.7% each to Rs 837 and Rs 2,357, respectively.

Infosys and Maruti have dropped 1.3% each to Rs 1,882 and Rs 1,060, respectively. Tata Motors is down 1% at Rs 733.

Out of 2,521 stocks traded so far, 1,433 have advanced, 1,016 have declined and 72 are unchanged.
