Silver crosses Rs 10000/kg mark

The bullion market saw silver crossing the psychological Rs 10,000 per kilogram mark during the week, to close at an all-time high of Rs 10,185 on Saturday. The previous high was witnessed on Friday, February 13, 2004, when it touched Rs 10,165.
 
Gold prices appreciated as well following the trend in international markets, as the dollar slid against the euro.
 
The spot price of silver closed at Rs 10,185 per kilogram on Saturday up by Rs 290 from Rs 9895 last week.
 
The 10 grams standard gold closed up at Rs 6090 on Saturday from the previous week's close of Rs 6000. Pure gold closed at Rs 6,135 as against Rs 6040.
 
On the National Commodities and Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX) the February contract of gold futures closed at Rs 6,135 on Friday as against Rs 5987 the previous week with an open interest of 1,16,700 grams. The volume of contract stood at 31,300 grams with 125 trades.
 
The March contract closed at Rs 6,155 from Rs 5990 the previous Friday. The open interest stood at 88,100 grams, and a volume of 28,000 grams in 119 trades.
 
The April contract closed at Rs 6,158 on Friday, up from Rs 6002 amid an open interest of 18,600 grams with a volume of 3,800 grams in 22 trades.
 
The February contract of silver futures closed on Friday at Rs 9916.55 compared with Rs 9477 last week. The open interest stood at 2330 kilograms with the volume of contract at 870 kilograms. There were 108 trades.
 
The March silver contract closed at Rs 9883.05 up from Rs 9470 the previous Friday. The volume of contract stood at 1195 kgs amid an open interest of 2430 kgs with 119 trades. The April contract closed at Rs 9869 from Rs 9476. The volume of contract was 670 kgs, with an open interest of 76 kgs.
 
On the Multi Commodities Exchange (MCX) the April contract of gold futures closed up at Rs 6157 on Friday as against the previous week's close of Rs 5997. The total volume of contract stood at 2,36,000 grams with 222 trades. Open positions stood at 4,07,000.
 
The June contract closed at Rs 6170 when compared with the Monday's price of Rs 6150. The open interest stood at 11,000 grams with 4 trades and a volume of 4000 grams traded.
 
The August contract closed at Rs 6187 compared to Monday's close of Rs 6205. The open interest stood at 7000 grams with 4 trades and a volume of contract at 4000 grams.
 
The April contract of mini gold closed trade at Rs 6157 on Friday compared with the previous week's Rs 6062. The volume of contract stood at 17,400 grams, with 116 trades. The open positions stood at 25,100 grams.
 
Silver futures closed for the March contract at Rs 9920 on Friday up from previous week's closing of Rs 9626. The open interest stood at 2760 kilograms, with a volume of 3640 kilograms in 68 trades.
 
On the National Multi Commodities Exchange (NMCE), the February contract of gold futures closed at Rs 6087 on Saturday as against Rs 5951 the previous week. The volume of contracts stood at 2 lots (two sided) with an open interest of 33.
 
The March contract closed at Rs 6144 on Saturday from Rs 6043 the previous week. The volume of contract stood at 22 lots amid an open interest of 134.
 
The April contract closed at Rs 6174 from Rs 6017 the previous Friday. The volume of contract was 4 lots amid an open interest of 78.
