Sugar drops on subdued demand

Sugar prices dropped at the Vashi Wholesale market here today due to sluggish demand from stockists and retailers amidst ample stock positions.

Small sugar quality (S-30) declined by Rs 9/30 per quintal to Rs 2,811/2,831 from last weekend's closing level of Rs 2,820/2,861. 

Medium sugar quality (M-30) also slipped by Rs 10/21 per quintal to Rs 2,850/2,930, as against Rs 2,860/2,951 last Saturday.

The following are today's closing rates per quintal, with the previous rates in brackets:  
Small sugar (S-30) quality Rs 2,811/2,831 (Rs 2,820/ 2,861) and medium sugar (M-30) quality Rs 2,850/2,930 (Rs 2,860/2,951)
