The U.S. State Department is claiming that the Al Qaeda has been decimated in the AFPAK region, and has now shifted its focus to threatening and possibly attacking American diplomatic missions in the Arab Peninsula.

State Department deputy spokesperson Marie Harf admitted that threat levels in the Afghanistan-Pakistan region from the Arabian branch of Al-Qaeda had decreased, but the changed situation did not warrant a stopping of drone attacks in the region.

According to the Dawn, Washington has ordered Americans to leave Yemen immediately in the wake of a threat of terror strikes by the Arab based Al Qaeda group against U.S. missions and authorities.

State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said the department has been taking appropriate steps to protect their employees, including local employees and visitors to their missions in the Arabian Peninsula.
