American business magazine Forbes has named German Chancellor Angela Merkel the world's most powerful woman for the fifth year running, ahead of United States presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and philanthropist Melinda Gates.

According to a release, Forbes applied four metrics to determine its list: money, media, impact and spheres of influence.

Among the others on the list are General Motors CEO Mary Barra, entertainer-philanthropist Taylor Swift, PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi, Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg, Fox Television Group CEO Dana Walden and South Korean President Park Geun-hye, among others.
