Delhi Police will ensure justice in alleged rape of 23-year-old by ASI: BJP

Describing the incident as 'shocking' where a23-year-old woman was allegedly raped by an Assistant Sub Inspector of the state's police , the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) on Saturday expressed confidence that the Delhi Police will ensure that justice is meted out.
"It is shocking, unacceptable and if it is a fact then you have to take the harshest possible punishment against such a person. And I am confident that Delhi Police will certainly do its best to ensure that no crime like this goes unchecked and makes sure that justice is meted out also," BJP leader Nalin Kohli told ANI here.
Delhi Police Commissioner B.S. Bassi, earlier in the day, said a chargesheet has been filed in the alleged rape case of a 23-year-old woman by an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) in the Rani Bagh area of the national capital.
The accused ASI, who reportedly raped the woman at gunpoint on Thursday, has been sent to 14-days' custody.
Reports say the incident was captured in CCTV cameras and a case has been registered against the accused. The police is also trying to verify the CCTV footage.
