Kannada poet Basavanna's birth anniversary observed in Delhi

A large number of Kannada writers, artists and academicians from the national capital today celebrated the birth anniversary of the 12th century poet Basavanna, who was a noted mystic and ardent social reformer.
The editor of Dehali Kannadiga, M.B. Samaga, who inaugurated the celebration said, 'Basavanna caused a revolution in Kannada literature both in form and content and raised the state's common man and the outcaste to divine heights '.
He urged the Central Government to start a train between Hubli and Delhi to be named after Basavanna and declare national holiday for Basava Jayanthi.
The celebration was organized by Dehali Kannadiga, a monthly published from Delhi.
