Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar finally met the family of naval martyr Lt. Kiran Shekhawat, who died in the line of duty in a Dornier air crash last month.

The Haryana chief minister, who had twice cancelled the meeting, causing a lot of inconvenience to Shekhawat's family, also promised to build a college in her memory.

"She is the pride of Haryana and India, we are really proud of her," Khattar told ANI here.

"For her remembrance, we will make a college on her name and a road dedicated to her name," he added.

Meanwhile, Kiran Shekhawat's father-in-law, said that she made everyone proud and everyone should have a daughter like her.

Shekhawat's family was twice informed by the Chief Minister's office about his wish to visit the family's home in Kurthala village, first on April 6 and then on April 10.

However, both the times the Haryana Chief Minister cancelled his visit.

The mortal remains of Shekhawat were consigned to flames with full military honours in Kurthala village of Haryana's Mewat district on Sunday.Besides the family members, several politicians from the state also paid their homage during the ceremony.
