Lioness shot dead by Chinese police after jump from lorry

Chinese police have shot dead a lioness that apparently jumped out of a lorry along a motorway.

According to the Guardian, it is not yet clear how the animal came to be on the road in Anhui.

Officers thought it would take too long to get a tranquilliser gun and ended up killing the lioness with 20 gun shots after she jumped out of her loosely bolted cage.
