ONGC organizes cultural heritage festival in Tripura

A two-day tribal cultural heritage festival was organized at Nazrul Kalakshetra auditorium in Agartala to promote the tribal culture of the state.
The festival organized by ONGC Tripura in which all 19 tribes of Tripura, of which some are on the verge of extinction, participated.
"We want to bring the rich culture which is prevailing in the village of Tripura and spread it among the new generation of the urban class so that it can be preserved and inculcated among them," said V P Mahawar, ONGC's Tripura asset manager and organizer.
During the two-day tribal cultural heritage festival, various traditional dances of indigenous tribes like Reang, Chakma, Jamatia, Kaloi, Lusai and Kuki were performed.
"Here, I came to see the traditional dance of the tribal people and enjoyed them. Such programme not only helps the new generation to know about the rich tradition of their community but also bring closer the variety tribes and unites them through cultural activities," said R Reang, a visitor.

Along with the tribal many non-tribal people also came to enjoy the show and appreciated it as such programme along with disseminating information about the tribal section of people also help in uniting them with other.
P B Das, a non-tribal visitor, expressed that in Tripura there are lots of rich cultural activities and at such a programme we also get to know what is happening. People are coming closer at such a programme which is a platform for uniting people.
Another visitor, Dulal Debbarma, said this programme all the traditional dances of the tribals of Tripura were demonstrated and it also send a message of peace and love among the tribal and non-tribal Bengali section of people who enjoyed together here.
Such cultural programme all the tribes of a state in one platform is quite rate and it a state that earlier experience communal tension and violence it helps is better understanding of each other's culture and other than preserving and spreading the culture among the new generation also helps in peaceful co-existence.
