Pakistan's Supreme Court on Monday ordered the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) to unblock the national identity card (NIC) and passport of former president General (retired) Pervez Musharraf.

The apex court, which was hearing a treason case linked to Musharraf, was informed by NADRA Chairperson Usman Mubeen that the former president general could not return to Pakistan till orders were received to unblock his NIC.

According to Geo TV, Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar then issued orders to NADRA to unblock Musharraf's NIC to enable him to come back and face the charges filed against him.

The apex court also ordered the constitution of a tribunal within two days for Musharraf's trial.

NADRA had earlier blocked Musharraf's NIC, blocked his passport and frozen his accounts. He was also reportedly deprived of the right to sell more than 10 of his properties in Pakistan, including four plots in Karachi and three in Islamabad.
