Teenaged South Korea-born New Zealand golfer Lydia Ko, who has recently turned professional, has admitted that she is under-prepared on the eve of her first venture into the professional golfing ranks.

Still just 16, Ko will line up alongside 69 other top golfers in the season-ending Titleholders' Championship in Naples, Florida on Thursday, November 21, where she will officially play her first shot as a professional golfer.

According to Stuff.co.nz, the world's top 10 female golfers will all play, including the current world No. 5 Ko, who missed the tournament last year because of exams and this year also her exams have interrupted her build-up.

However, Ko said that a break from playing for exams has done her good as she practiced as much golf as she could during that period and also fine-tuned an already world-class game.

Ko, who has never missed a cut in a professional tournament, also said that although she is always nervous going into a big tournament, it has worked out well for her so far, adding that being the No 1 amateur in the world for a few years came with some pressure which has helped prepare her for her pro career,

The report mentioned that Ko, who has already won four professional tournaments, could afford to look at the prize-pool and the 700,000-dollar winner's cheque would make a handy first pay-day, the report added.
