U.S. accuses Syria of continuing to use chemical weapons on civilians

The United States has accused Syria of continuing to use chemical weapons on civilians despite claims that it has damaged its stockpile as it was required under a 2013 United Nations treaty.
Undersecretary of State Rose Gottemoeller told members of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) that the Syrian regime has not completely disarmed lethal cache, reported CBS News.
She said that there was evidence that the Syrian regime continued to use chemical weapons repeatedly.
Gottemoeller laid out key findings from OPCW investigators that say that the regime used chemical weapons against opposition-controlled towns in northern Syria.
U.S. Ambassador to the OPCW Robert Mikulak said more monitoring is needed into the use of chemical weapons by the Syrian regime.
