Auto shares slide

Auto stocks were trading with losses, with the S&P BSE Auto index falling 167.76 points or 1.28% at 12989.48 at 13:53 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Auto index, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd (down 4.48%), Ashok Leyland Ltd (down 3.65%),Cummins India Ltd (down 2.45%),Balkrishna Industries Ltd (down 2.09%),Hero MotoCorp Ltd (down 1.89%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (down 1.38%), Apollo Tyres Ltd (down 1.13%), Bajaj Auto Ltd (down 1.06%), Tata Motors Ltd (down 0.54%), and MRF Ltd (down 0.14%).

On the other hand, Amara Raja Batteries Ltd (up 3.22%), Exide Industries Ltd (up 2.42%), and Motherson Sumi Systems Ltd (up 2.12%) moved up.

 

At 13:53 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 138.8 or 0.45% at 30984.09.

The Nifty 50 index was down 25.1 points or 0.27% at 9117.65.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 25.71 points or 0.24% at 10680.77.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 6.82 points or 0.18% at 3793.3.

On BSE,927 shares were trading in green, 1153 were trading in red and 161 were unchanged.
