Energy shares slide

Energy stocks were trading with losses, with the S&P BSE Energy index falling 392.88 points or 9.2% at 3877.12 at 13:52 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Energy index, Hindustan Oil Exploration Company Ltd (down 19.24%), Confidence Petroleum India Ltd (down 14.75%),Oil & Natural Gas Corpn Ltd (down 14.53%),Selan Explorations Technology Ltd (down 13.42%),Reliance Industries Ltd (down 12.37%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Alphageo (India) Ltd (down 11.74%), Oil India Ltd (down 10.44%), Aban Offshore Ltd (down 9.09%), Adani Gas Ltd (down 6.96%), and Coal India Ltd (down 5.36%).

On the other hand, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (up 8.18%), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (up 5.33%), and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (up 0.94%) moved up.

 

At 13:52 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 2137.66 or 5.69% at 35438.96.

The Nifty 50 index was down 620.7 points or 5.65% at 10368.75.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 643.34 points or 4.83% at 12686.44.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 218.54 points or 4.72% at 4409.8.

On BSE,252 shares were trading in green, 2162 were trading in red and 152 were unchanged.
