FPIs step-up buying

Net inflow of Rs 1500.76 crore on 12 March 2018
Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) bought stocks worth a net Rs 1500.76 crore from the secondary equity markets on 12 March 2018, compared with net inflow of Rs 613.96 crore on 9 March 2018. On 12 March 2018, the Sensex jumped 610.80 points or 1.83% to settle at 33,917.94, its highest closing level since 1 March 2018.
The net inflow of Rs 1500.76 crore into the secondary equity markets on 12 March 2018 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 5339.36 crore and gross sales of Rs 3838.60 crore.
There was a net outflow of Rs 87.33 crore from the 'primary market & others' category on 12 March 2018, which was a result of nil gross purchases and gross sales of Rs 87.33 crore.
FPIs have bought stocks worth a net Rs 91.56 crore in March 2018 so far (till 12 March 2018). They offloaded stocks worth a net Rs 16809.04 crore into the secondary equity markets last month.
