Metal stocks edge higher

Metal stocks were trading in green, with the S&P BSE Metal index increasing 154.72 points or 1.77% at 8920.58 at 09:50 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Metal index, Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (up 4.35%), Tata Steel Ltd (up 2.55%),JSW Steel Ltd (up 2.34%),Vedanta Ltd (up 2.34%),Steel Authority of India Ltd (up 2.28%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were NMDC Ltd (up 1.45%), Hindalco Industries Ltd (up 1.19%), Hindustan Zinc Ltd (up 0.86%), and Coal India Ltd (up 0.73%).

On the other hand, National Aluminium Company Ltd (down 0.92%), turned lower.

At 09:50 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 136.95 or 0.37% at 37282.4.

 

The Nifty 50 index was up 30.2 points or 0.27% at 11033.25.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 84.82 points or 0.67% at 12794.78.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 23.03 points or 0.54% at 4302.42.

On BSE,913 shares were trading in green, 302 were trading in red and 78 were unchanged.
