Metal stocks slide

Metal stocks were trading with losses, with the S&P BSE Metal index decreasing 81.83 points or 0.86% at 9378.51 at 13:48 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Metal index, Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (down 2.82%), Vedanta Ltd (down 1.22%),Tata Steel Ltd (down 1.21%),Steel Authority of India Ltd (down 1.21%),Hindalco Industries Ltd (down 0.85%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were JSW Steel Ltd (down 0.82%), Coal India Ltd (down 0.45%), and National Aluminium Company Ltd (down 0.35%).

On the other hand, Hindustan Zinc Ltd (up 1.76%), and NMDC Ltd (up 0.9%) turned up.

At 13:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 153.54 or 0.38% at 40437.73.

 

The Nifty 50 index was up 41.95 points or 0.35% at 11926.45.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 49.95 points or 0.37% at 13412.56.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 0.02 points or 0% at 4679.68.

On BSE,1063 shares were trading in green, 1294 were trading in red and 183 were unchanged.
