Metal stocks slide

Metal stocks were trading with losses, with the S&P BSE Metal index decreasing 253.88 points or 2.4% at 10345.04 at 13:47 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Metal index, Vedanta Ltd (down 3.11%), National Aluminium Company Ltd (down 3.06%),Steel Authority of India Ltd (down 2.89%),Coal India Ltd (down 2.71%),JSW Steel Ltd (down 2.68%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Hindalco Industries Ltd (down 2.47%), Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (down 1.84%), Tata Steel Ltd (down 1.83%), and Hindustan Zinc Ltd (down 1.42%).

On the other hand, NMDC Ltd (up 0.23%), turned up.

At 13:47 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 691.28 or 1.67% at 40773.33.

 

The Nifty 50 index was down 207.55 points or 1.7% at 12019.1.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 253.04 points or 1.81% at 13735.85.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 82.33 points or 1.7% at 4748.88.

On BSE,528 shares were trading in green, 1848 were trading in red and 172 were unchanged.
