Energy shares fall

Energy stocks were trading in the negative zone, with the S&P BSE Energy index falling 116.46 points or 2.23% at 5101.46 at 13:47 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Energy index, Confidence Petroleum India Ltd (down 6.92%), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (down 6.56%),Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd (down 5.97%),Adani Gas Ltd (down 5.91%),Goa Carbon Ltd (down 4.99%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Ltd (down 4.18%), Aegis Logistics Ltd (down 3.19%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (down 3.15%), Panama Petrochem Ltd (down 2.84%), and Coal India Ltd (down 2.71%).

On the other hand, Alphageo (India) Ltd (up 3.04%), Aban Offshore Ltd (up 2.86%), and Gulf Oil Lubricants India Ltd (up 0.72%) moved up.

 

At 13:47 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 691.28 or 1.67% at 40773.33.

The Nifty 50 index was down 207.55 points or 1.7% at 12019.1.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 253.04 points or 1.81% at 13735.85.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 82.33 points or 1.7% at 4748.88.

On BSE,528 shares were trading in green, 1848 were trading in red and 172 were unchanged.
