Nifty January futures trade at premium; India VIX spurts 7%
Reliance Industries (RIL), Infosys and Bajaj Finance most active in futures segment.
The Nifty January 2022 futures was at 17,946.20, a premium of 20.95 points as compared with the Nifty's closing of 17,925.25 in the cash market.
Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment was Rs 99.83 lakh crore compared with Rs 70.41 lakh crore reported in the previous session.
In the cash market, the Nifty 50 index rose 120 points or 0.67% to settle at 17,925.25.
The NSE's India VIX, a gauge of market's expectation of volatility over the near term, jumped 6.87% at 17.2275.
