Nifty May futures trade at premium to spot price

Turnover on NSE's F&O segment declines

The May 2016 futures on the Nifty 50 index traded at 7,733, a premium of 26.45 points compared with Nifty's closing of 7,706.55 in the cash market. Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's (NSE) futures and options (F&O) totaled Rs 1.9 lakh crore, lower than turnover of Rs 2.61 lakh crore registered during the previous trading session.

In the cash market, the Nifty dropped 40.45 points or 0.45% to settle at 7,706.55, its lowest closing level since 11 April 2016.

Tata Motors, Tata Steel, ICICI Bank, Yes Bank and Axis Bank were the top traded individual stock futures contracts on the futures & options (F&O) segment of NSE. Tata Motors May 2016 futures traded at 385, at a premium compared with spot closing of 383.15. Tata Steel May 2016 futures traded at 331.35, at a premium compared with spot closing of 329.50. ICICI Bank May 2016 futures traded at 215.40, at a premium compared with spot closing of 214.25.

 

Yes Bank May 2016 futures traded at 919.60, at a premium compared with spot closing of 917.40. Axis Bank May 2016 futures traded at 466.05, at a premium compared with spot closing of 464.95.

The May 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 26 May 2016.
