Among the components of the S&P BSE Oil&Gas index, Gujarat State Petronet Ltd (up 1.35%), Reliance Industries Ltd (up 0.99%),GAIL (India) Ltd (up 0.68%),Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (up 0.64%),Castrol India Ltd (up 0.62%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (up 0.56%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (up 0.55%), Indraprastha Gas Ltd (up 0.42%), Petronet LNG Ltd (up 0.35%), and Oil & Natural Gas Corpn Ltd (up 0.27%).
At 09:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 174.11 or 0.42% at 41337.87.
The Nifty 50 index was up 53.65 points or 0.44% at 12180.2.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 67.54 points or 0.5% at 13502.56.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 23.19 points or 0.49% at 4725.99.
On BSE,1023 shares were trading in green, 411 were trading in red and 61 were unchanged.
