Telecom shares fall

Telecom stocks were trading in the negative zone, with the S&P BSE Telecom index falling 51.08 points or 4.46% at 1094.58 at 13:47 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, Vodafone Idea Ltd (down 13.61%), Bharti Infratel Ltd (down 9.1%),HFCL Ltd (down 7.12%),Tejas Networks Ltd (down 5.68%),Optiemus Infracom Ltd (down 5%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (down 4.14%), OnMobile Global Ltd (down 2.9%), Bharti Airtel Ltd (down 2.69%), ITI Ltd (down 2.6%), and Sterlite Technologies Ltd (down 2.51%).

On the other hand, Reliance Communications Ltd (up 4.71%), and GTL Infrastructure Ltd (up 3.92%) moved up.

 

At 13:47 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 189.48 or 0.46% at 40612.69.

The Nifty 50 index was down 69.5 points or 0.58% at 11978.7.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 111.21 points or 0.82% at 13397.01.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 42.01 points or 0.89% at 4696.44.

On BSE,746 shares were trading in green, 1535 were trading in red and 198 were unchanged.
