Telecom shares rise
Telecom stocks were trading with gains, with the S&P BSE Telecom index rising 7.88 points or 0.71% at 1123.84 at 09:48 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, GTL Infrastructure Ltd (up 2.5%), Optiemus Infracom Ltd (up 1.64%),Bharti Infratel Ltd (up 1.49%),OnMobile Global Ltd (up 0.98%),Bharti Airtel Ltd (up 0.63%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were HFCL Ltd (up 0.28%), Vodafone Idea Ltd (up 0.16%), and Sterlite Technologies Ltd (up 0.08%).
On the other hand, Tejas Networks Ltd (down 3.05%), Reliance Communications Ltd (down 1.15%), and ITI Ltd (down 0.05%) moved lower.
At 09:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 85.74 or 0.21% at 41339.48.
The Nifty 50 index was up 34.7 points or 0.29% at 12203.15.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 50.83 points or 0.37% at 13750.2.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 12.46 points or 0.26% at 4785.65.
On BSE,901 shares were trading in green, 419 were trading in red and 59 were unchanged.
