Telecom stocks edge higher
Telecom stocks were trading in green, with the S&P BSE Telecom index increasing 51.35 points or 5.47% at 990.04 at 09:53 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, OnMobile Global Ltd (up 19.99%), Bharti Airtel Ltd (up 6.07%),Reliance Communications Ltd (up 4.41%),GTL Infrastructure Ltd (up 4.17%),HFCL Ltd (up 3.08%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Bharti Infratel Ltd (up 3.04%), Vindhya Telelinks Ltd (up 2.99%), Sterlite Technologies Ltd (up 2.77%), Vodafone Idea Ltd (up 2.54%), and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (up 1.83%).
On the other hand, Tejas Networks Ltd (down 0.95%), turned lower.
At 09:53 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 1306.38 or 4.73% at 28897.33.
The Nifty 50 index was up 362.05 points or 4.48% at 8445.85.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 258.44 points or 2.75% at 9667.48.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 98.16 points or 2.96% at 3417.25.
On BSE,1272 shares were trading in green, 241 were trading in red and 75 were unchanged.
