At least eight people were killed and 28 others injured on Sunday when a double-decker bus rammed into a concrete barrier at the "curve of a hundred corpses" in Thailand's Kanchanaburi province.

The accident took place at Si Sawat district's dangerous Tabtao curve -- site of frequent road mishaps, The Bangkok Post quoted police officials as saying.

The bus failed to turn at the sharp curve, hit the cement barrier and overturned as a result, the officials said.

Police believed the driver might not have been familiar with the route and lost control of the bus. The driver was among those killed.

According to locals, accidents are so frequent at the Tabtao curve that it has been termed as the "curve of a hundred corpses".
