San Francisco, Nov 14 (IANS/EFE) An Ebola-infected surgeon from Sierra Leone will be taken to the US for treatment in the same hospital where two other cases have been cured, CBS television reported.

The unidentified doctor has US residency.

The doctor will be treated at the Nebraska Medical Centre in Omaha, where two Ebola patients, Rick Sacra and television cameraman Ashoka Mukpo, were successfully treated for the virus they contracted in West Africa, the network said Thursday.

Sacra, who contracted Ebola in Liberia, underwent treatment at the medical centre and was discharged after 21 days.

Ashoka Mukpo had also been infected in Liberia and was admitted Oct 6 and released Oct 22, Ebola-free.

A specific date for the arrival of the third patient has not been confirmed by the hospital. However, media reports said it will be sometime this week.

"As with previous patients we've treated here in recent months, per State Department regulations, we would only have confirmation when a plane is en route with a patient aboard," hospital spokesman Taylor Wilson said.

The Ebola outbreak in West Africa has affected 14,098 people, out of which 5,160 have died, according to the latest data from the World Health Organisation.
