Elderly woman dies in building collapse in Bengal

An elderly woman died on Friday when a portion of a building she was in collapsed in central Kolkata's Manicktala area, police said.

The 60-year-old woman was resting on the ground floor of the building, situated on Narkeldanga Road, when a portion of its second floor came down in the evening.

"There has been an incident and an elderly woman has died. Police is still there. We had a hard time bringing out the woman as she was trapped inside," a police officer said.

The woman was taken to the Nil Ratan Sircar Medical College and Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries, he added.
