Italian missionary murdered in Nigeria

Ogwashi-Ukwu (Nigeria), Oct 11 (IANS/AKI) Suspected robbers attacked and killed an Italian missionary with a machete in the southern Nigerian town of Ogwashi-Ukwu, Italian media reports said Friday.
Afra Martinelli, 78, from the northern Italian town of Ciliverghe, died in a local hospital 12 days after the savage Sep 26 attack at her home, which left her in a coma.
Colleagues found Martinelli the morning after the suspected robbery lying face down on the floor in a pool of blood flowing from a gaping wound in her neck.
She had lived in Nigeria for 30 years and founded the Regina Mundia school for poor children in Ogwashi-Ukwu.
