Sitaram Yechury has a knack for deflecting tricky questions with his sense of humour. When asked on Tuesday about former Prime Minister Inder Kumar Gujral’s statement in his memoirs that the Left parties didn’t allow Sonia Gandhi to become prime minister in 2004, Yechury replied, “Gujral saab is almost 89 years old now. This is actually a lesson for younger politicians that they should write their autobiographies much earlier.”
