Non-roaming Roemer

There may be some who would regret United States ambassador Timothy Roemer’s decision to pack his bags in New Delhi and return home, but that would not include too many in Delhi’s media, spoilt as they have been by Mr Roemer’s two predecessors and their media handlers. Ambassadors Robert Blackwill and David Mulford became very popular with Delhi’s hacks given their eagerness to make friends and influence people. His successor will have a huge job restoring the convivial connect with the media.
