Congress today released the last six candidates today declaring Kiran Walia the contender against AAP's Arvind Kejriwal from the New Delhi constituency.
Three time chief minister Sheila Dikshit had been trounced by Kejriwal from this seat and Walia reportedly was not too keen on contesting from here.
However the party zeroed in on Walia a close confidante of Dikshit with Ajay Maken the party's face for the polls declining to contest Kejriwal. Tilak Nagar another one of the contentious seats, finally saw Dhuli Chand Lohia being given the ticket here.
Meanwhile Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi attempted to highlight the Congress track record as being of "two Ts" in its "tried and tested" in running the government in Delhi for 15 years and "two Cs" in "clean and competent".
Citing the induction of former AAP's Shazia Ilmi and India Against Corruption's Kiran Bedi, Singhvi asked "How much can people trust such turncoats?" he said.
Taking a dig at Bedi he said, Bedi used to dream of becoming the Delhi Police Commissioner and has now started dreaming about being the chief minister.
"Congress is the only party which is fully tried and fully tested and has a dynamic leader in Maken who has given all his life to Delhi. He is clean and competent," Singhvi said.
