The house of a former university vice-chancellor was burgled in an upscale residential colony of Sahibabad with the robbers decamping with cash, including American dollars, and jewellery worth lakhs of rupees.
According to police, the burglars took with them 12,000 US dollars, cash and gold ornaments worth several lakh of rupees in the robbery last night.
ASP Ashish Srivastava said that the former vice-chancellor of the Jodhpur-based National Law University, AK Kaul, had gone on a visit to Kashmir when the burglary took place at his residence in Rajendra Nagar Sector-3 colony where he lives with his wife.

When Kaul and his wife returned from Kashmir today around 5:30 AM, they found the main door to their floor open.
Entering their apartment, they found 12,000 US dollars, Rs 5,000, 250gm gold ornaments and one laptop missing from their almirah, the officer said.
An FIR has been registered in the case,ASP added.
