Cyberabad Police today picked up 14 suspects for questioning during a massive cordon and search operation, aimed at keeping a check on anti-social elements, under KPHB police station limits here.

Over 500 personnel comprising different wings of police, led by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Madhapur Division) Karthikeya and other senior police officers carried out the operation at Yellammabanda, PJR Nagar and Sikh Basthi.

The crime records showed that few pockets in Yellammabanda area are notorious shelters for recorded criminals like motorcycle lifters, house burglars, snatchers, ex-Maoists, DCP Karthikeya said, adding, the aim behind the operation was to recover stolen vehicles, property, weapons and drugs.

"14 suspects were taken into custody for questioning," the senior police officer said.

Police also seized four cars, 56 motorcycles and 12 auto rickshaws during the operation as they did not have relevant documents.

Similar operations will be conducted across the Cyberabad commissionerate to keep a check on anti-social elements and induce a sense of security among people, police said.
