18 Afghan police killed in ambush: interior ministry

Militants killed 18 Afghan police when officers returning from an anti-insurgent operation were caught in an ambush in the remote northeastern province of Badakhshan, the interior ministry said today.
"The acting interior minister is deeply saddened about the killing of 18 policemen and wounding of 13 others in a terrorist attack in Warduj district of Badakhshan," a statement said after the attack on Wednesday.
