Over 22,700 challans were issued by authorities to vehicular commuters on roads for not possessing pollution norm certificates, the Delhi government said in the first Outcome Budget tabled in the Assembly today.

This was among the major critical indicators enunciated by Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia while presenting it in the House during the ongoing session.

The Outcome Budget breaks down the performance of each major scheme and programme of Delhi government into two kinds of indicators: Output indicators, which tell us what are the services or infrastructure that government departments are required to be provided; and Outcome indicators, which tell exactly how did the people benefit from that scheme, he said.

"22,706 challans were issued (in 2017-18) for non-possession of Pollution Under Control Certificates (PUCC) against 18,401 in 2016-17," the Outcome Budget said.

The Outcome Budget is for the current fiscal, referring till December 2017.

Sisodia in his speech also said that 2.11 lakh fitness certificates were issued against the target of 2.85 lakh for 2017-18.
