As many as 3.39 lakh families have availed treatment costing Rs 662.86 crore under the Chief Minister's Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme, Finance Minister D Jayakumar said today.
"In 2016-17, 3.39 lakh patients have availed treatment costing Rs 662.86 crore while the government hospitals have earned Rs 225.28 crore through claims settlement," he said while presenting the budget for financial year 2017-18, here.
An additional 312 new procedures and an increased coverage of Rs two lakh per annum for specialised procedures were further included in the scheme, he said.

"An amount of Rs 1,348 crore has been provided in the budget estimates for this purpose," he said.
Jayakumar said since the introduction of one of the flagship schemes of ruling AIADMK, over 1.58 crore people have been covered under the insurance scheme in private and government hospitals.
